Malkin first! Letang second!
We have too many d-prospects with skill and NO generational talent type of winger. |

because of Crosby's injuries history, you probably want to keep Malkin around...Pitt also did a good job in restocking in defense prospects... |

Malkin should be getting 9M per season for the next 8 years... a small raise but still pretty close to the top. Letang will be about 6M for 6 years... both can be kept but then you lose guys like Neal, Sutter and Cunitz down the line... |

My thoughts exactly. I'm not sure Malkin will get paid more than Sid... |

So me and my brother go to the game yesterday and we were in the top row of the stadium ($30 student rush tickets). I was eying down seats in the lower section and saw a row of 3 empty seats 8 rows back from the glass (directly behind the goal that the penguins would shoot on in the 3rd period). Nobody was sitting in them the entire 2nd period we decided to make the move down there during intermission. About 2 minutes into the 3rd period, a guy walks down there (during play) and says that we are in his seat. So I scooted over 1 seat because there were 3 empty seats and he says the other 2 people are on their way down. So we proceed to leave and go back to our seats at the top of the arena lol. I watched down there for the rest of the game, and those 2 seats remained empty the entire 3rd period. Nobody ever came down and sat in them. What a jerk!!!!! |

Malkin 8 years at 8.7
Even if Letang signs, I wouldnt rule him out being traded at some point. |

Malkin won't get much of a raise. But if you really had to choose between the 2 it's Malkin without a doubt. |

Both will be kept, Geno could get any amount of money and any term he requests but you have to think he respects the reality of the restrictions of a salary cap. Hopefully he signs a home team discount. Letang will sign for around 6 mill you would think. |

Malkin without question. I'd lose other guys to make sure I keep them both though. I think Orpik and Nisk could both be moved to keep him. Also Martin's deal will be expiring when Letang's new deal would kick in correct? |

Yes. Orpik, Niskanen and Engo as well. That is, if the team doesn't try and re-sign him before or if someone is moved before. |

He might get a little more of a cap hit, just because of the 8 year limit. Crosby signed for 12 years, with a few cheap years at the end. You won't have that luxury with Malkin. |

I bet he holds out for more. As much as anyone likes to think these guys will sign at a discount, look at all the signings recently. They look out for number one.
He'll be asking for Doughty/Weber/Suter numbers. |

You keep Malkin.... There's no question about it. I love Letang but you have a bunch of options coming up to atleast try and replace him. However the only way you replace Malkin is by the lottery on an unbelievable draft year. |

That's the thing... it all comes down to his motivation. If he wants to stay here, he's gonna have to fall in that $6 million range. If he wants to hit the open market, he's gonna get at least $7 million. |

Malkin will get 8 years/$72 mill.
Letang will be offered something in the neighborhood of 7 years/$45 mill, he'll turn it down and get traded for a kings ransom. |

Its pretty simple. You have a guy that is one of only 3 players ever to win Calder, Hart, Art Ross, Conn Smyth, and Ted Lindsay awards. |
